Michael E. Rothpletz, Jr. represents real estate developers and investors and corporate real estate users in a wide range of real estate law related matters. His practice includes office, industrial and build-to-suit leasing, joint venture negotiations relating to the development of real estate, purchase and sales, financings, commercial condominiums, development-related matters, and litigation involving real estate.

On the developer/investor side, Michael regularly serves as the lead lawyer in large, multi-faceted transactions and manages a team of Drinker lawyers. Michael also serves as lead outside counsel to real estate clients handling or overseeing a wide range of matters from routine leasing and development matters to arbitration and litigation.

On the corporate user side, Michael represents companies in a wide range of matters, including corporate headquarters leasing transactions, office space leasing nationally, and purchase and sale transitions. Michael also represents families and individual investors in their real estate matters, such as investment and agricultural property purchases and sales and land preservation transactions.

Michael is a frequent speaker regarding commercial real estate topics for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He has also co-authored the chapter entitled “Conveyance of Commercial Real Estate” contained in Commercial Real Estate Transactions in New Jersey, New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (2003 and 2nd Ed., 2006).

Pro Bono

Michael led the successful effort to preserve hundreds of acres of family farmlands and woodlands for future generations.

He was a founding member of a land trust established for land preservation, and of an education foundation set up to raise money to supplement the budget of local public schools. Michael has provided pro bono real estate legal services to the land trust and other nonprofit institutions.
